Can't fault this place and has just won best restaurant in Bristol, which is thoroughly deserved. Had the tasting menu and the wine flight on my visit and the flavours complemented together really well. Staff were very well informed and explained each course as you went through. The wine waitress was equally as informed on her wines. Love coming to this place and will be back soon
I went to Wilks last night with my parents. The food, as others have said, was excellent - extremely high quality and much care and attention had been paid to each course. However, I can't help but think there are other restaurants in Bristol which I would choose over this one next time I'm looking to celebrate a special occasion. Aside from the eye-watering expense, the service was efficient although quite aloof at times. It's a very formal affair compared to other establishments in Bristol and, for me personally, I missed the more relaxed feel. It really depends on what you like from a restaurant but if you're like me and prefer to be able to hold a conversation slightly louder than a hushed whisper and don't want to feel like you're being given the once-over by fellow patrons, I'd look elsewhere.

Fantastic food, really well made in front of you. A lovely family run restaurant with very friendly atmosphere.
My review two years ago: I dream of Chai Shai food. Love eating here and Farouk and Shilpi are very accommodating and make us feel at home. I gave them 5 Stars. My review now: I left Bristol for a year and when I came back I was excited to take my partner with me, who loves to cook, he was keen to try this restaurant he's never been to before. Sadly we were quite disappointed... All the curries we ordered tasted and looked the same despite the difference in descriptions in the menu. I remember the dishes being very fresh tasting and herby, ingredients were distinctive within the dish. Unfortunately this was no longer the case. Our fish also tasted of chemicals, but this is no fault of the restaurant, but probably the supplier of the frozen fish. The family probably aren't around as much as they used to be, and maybe the quality has slipped slightly.

Sublime tasting menu, full of delicately balanced dishes. The service was attentive, if a little rushed. The wine flight complimented the menu perfectly. Black pepper macaroon with duck liver parfait was incredible, as was the croissant mousse in one of the desserts.
A fantastic dining experience. Bulrush were very accommodating of mine and my partners dietary needs (both of us being Vegan) as well as maintaining an excellent standard of food. The service was phenomenal, the best I have ever experienced. Our waiter Oscar was personable, informative and enthusiastic whilst maintaining an air of professionalism at all times. All in all, we had an amazing culinary experience, sampling the very best cuisine Bristol has to offer. I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Thank you again Bulrush.
